Byrraju Foundation established "Rural Primary Health Care Program" in the year 2006 at West Godavari District, A.P and other locations. Recent development of unfortunate things with the founder of the Byrraju Foundation, this program is not able to sustain the way it was planned. They made changes to the program to continue with financial support from the respective villages. Spandana Foundation is trying to support this program to continue as it is. Program Details Specific to Munipalli Village: -

  • One MBBS Doctor Visit village every other day (15 days in month) for 2 hours.
  • On average 25 patients will be treated every other day. (15 x 25 = 375  patients a month)
  • Primary health check will be performed on all age groups.
  • Chronic cases will be referred to Public Health Care centers.
  • Run diabetic and hypertension tests for needed patients.
  • Diabetic and Hypertension patients will get 30 days supply of medicine. (60% of the patients are this kind)
  • Conducting health awareness programs.

About the Doctor: -

Dr. Prabhakara Rao Daparthi MBBS is a retired Doctor who is dedicated his life to volunteer and treat rural people through this mission. He is very enthusiastic and busy Doctor through this foundation. He visits 3 villages a day and spends 2 hours in each village apart from his travel time. As he explained that he is busier than as he is in service.

Future of this Program: -

Currently there are some negotiations in between Byrraju Foundation and Care Hospitals, Hyderabad to continue on this program, but future is uncertain. Dr. Prabahakara Rao came forward to volunteer and help this program to run even if Byrraju Foundation closes the program. This is great news.

Action: -

After discussions with Munipalli Village Committee, Spandana Foundation proposed to support this program on a conditional basis. Spandana Foundation wants to make village people as a sole responsible to run this program in next one year with self reliance. Mean while Spandana Foundation support 1st Quarter with 100% grant, 2nd Quarter 75%, 3rd Quarter 50% and Final Quarter with 25%. By the end of one year Village should be able to have self reliance to run this program on their own. Village committee took responsibility to convey this to residents of village through "Grama Sabha" and they are planning to get  self reliance to run this program in future. With this agreement we are going to support this program as below for next one year starting January, 2010.
