Project/Case Background:

Spandana Foundation is supporting to provide medical treatment to a mother of the household who suffers from a neurological problem on the left side of her cheek. She has 2 daughters. Elder one without a proper education and the younger one although willing to study cannot afford to study - because of the financial crisis this family is going through. The detail of the case has been enlightened.

Project case: Mrs. Alwala Phani Kumari is a 40 year old female suffering from Trigeminal Neuralgia for over 10 years now. She has tried Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Allopathic medicine  with no good relief.  She had been taking multiple pain medications and sedatives to  control her pain.

Her husband Alwala Narasimha Rao,  works  for a private pesticides company  on a temporory job and makes little money to run the family.  The family is entirely dependent on this income. They have  two daughters. The elder daughter completed her  graduation  through distant education. She is at home, helping her mother. The youngest daughter’s college education has been discontinued due to the financial crisis.  Narasimha Rao is known diabetic and had undergone couple of different surgeries in the past

Requirement:
Majority of the  household income is spent on temporory treatment of Ms. Phani Kumari which would be otherwise spent for kids education. we estimate about 1 Lakh  Rs to get the operation done for her which would be permanent cure. Necessary medical reports are enclosed here under.

Educational background of family:
Elder daughter completed her graduation by  distant education and the younger completed her Intermediate second year and awaiting to seek admission into a degree. But with the current financial background, she may not be joing the college. Spandana is evaluating to help this girl under Pratibha project for her heigher education.

Financial background of family:
Mr.Narasimha Rao works as a sales person in a Private  Pesticides company.  This is a temporary position and he draws his salary only if his clients pay their installments.  If  clients delay/skip  or do not pay on time, he is not paid promptly. His salary ranges from 2,000 Rs to 10,000 Rs/ month based on the commission. Majority of the earnings are spent towards his wife’s medical expenses, household/domestic expenses  and his medical expenses.   As a result he has to take small loans or borrow money from friends and other  family members to run his family.   Though Mr and Mrs Narasimha Rao want their daughters are study and secure a jon, they would not continue their education nor the surgery for Phani Kumari due to which her condition has been worsening for last few years.

Why Spandana would like to help:
By supporting Phani Kumari for the permanent cure, the household income can be spent wisely on kids education for the betterment of the family.

What Spandana is going to provide:
Spandana agreed to support this case for medical expenses of Phani Kumari not exceeding 1 lac rupees. Rest of the money if required will be raised by Mr. Narasimha Rao

Other Sources of funding:
Few NRIs Lavanya Kethamukkala and Kalyan Dittakavi collected around 450 dollars through donations and helped the family for the diagnostic procedures , tests and doctor fees and their traveling expenses from Khammam to Hyderabad.
