Spandana Foundation is very glad to inform you that we have another initiative now to "Support Orphans & Old Age " under our Aashraya project.

We evaluated Old Age Home and Orphanage at Sri Sadguru Trust in Chittoor Dist, Andhra Pradesh. We are impressed with Sri Sadguru Trust mission focused to help the old who do not have any one to take care and the kids who lost the near and dear. Spandana also appointed a nominee in Sri Sadguru Trust in the capacity of Vice President to involve and monitor the trust activities.

Currently we have 35 old people and 20 orphans in the existing infrastructure. The trust need to expand its infrastructure to accommodate more orphans and old age in Chittoor.

We are fortunate to get local donors and businesses to support daily expenses but we need to raise funds to support the Expansion of Infrastructure project by raising approx 10 lac rupees (~ 25K).

You can be Founding Donor and your preferred name will be inscribed on the wall if you donate 500$ and above. Any amount is not small amount. Even few $$ will help immensely in constructing the building. Donate Now and make your support marked permanent the underprivileged. You can donate on our website using your credit card/debit card/paypal by clicking on Donate button on the right side of our website or send checks in favor of "Spandana Foundation" to Spandana Foundation, 1179, Blue Bill Way, Normal, IL-61761. I am from Gangammagudi of SR Puram Mandal (Chittoor-Puttur Road). I studied in Gangammagudi & Kothapalle Mitta during my schooling. I started supporting my school in 2007 and slowly started helping other schools around my natve place. This year, I am supporting 35 schools in Chittoor district. 16 students are selected from each school with the help of Head Master and my contact in Chittoor(My mom). We are helping 560 students (280 girls and 280 boys) from these schools. Spandana Foundation shipped the following material to all these schools and are been distributed to all of them in July and August 2010:

    - 2 pairs of uniforms
    - 1 school bag
    - 1 geometry box
    - 1 set of pencils and pens
    - As many as 10 note books

It costs 25$ to support a student per year. That means it costs 400$ to support a school.
I have committed to Spandana Foundation that I will raise 14000$ funds to support all the schools. I need your help to raise funds. So far (as of August 2010) I raised 5600$ through my contacts and events. Need your help in supporting the good cause. All the donations are tax exempted.

We also conducted 'Sumathi Padyaala Poteelu' in 25 High Schools and distributed gifts to 10 students from each school. The program is designed to encourage students to learn new Sumathi/Vemana padyaalu and understand the moral behind them which would help them to build their character and internal values.

This is possible by the support from the following individuals and I would like to express my "Thank You" to you on behalf of the teachers, students and their parents from our villages.

    WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

    Hi Folks,

In Chittoor (37 schools), we have not given the stitching charges to the students and managed to get them stitched through school staff/donors/students. I have visited 15 schools during my visit and here are the pictures http://picasaweb.google.com/MaaSpandana/GiriSVisitToSpandanaSchoolsInChittoor2009

We would like to give "Study Material" for all High Schools which would help the 10th class students to prepare well for public exams. Each set costs 90Rs and I would like to give 10 sets to each school. So, the total is 25 High Schools X 10= 250 sets X 90 Rs = 22,500/-

There are "All India Merit Scholarship" exams for 8th pass out candidates which would help them to get 6000 Rs/ year for 4 years. That is purely based on their scoring in the exam. The qualification is 8th class marks ( Min 50/55%). There is no books or coaching for this, I am proposing to hire 4-5 teachers for FREE coaching for the students for 4-5 months (only weekends) to guide and train the students to secure the merit scholarship. In each school I got to know there are 2-4 students who got these scholarships. By training /guidance, I am sure each school can get atleast 6-8 students. This is needed next year onwards but I need to plan from January 2010. Cost of this project: 2000 Rs/month X 4 teachers X 4 months = 32000 INR

    02 schools requested for plates for Mid day Meals. Each costing 80Rs. Total= 2 scools X 100 plates X 80 Rs=16000 Rs.

02 schools requested for Uniforms for participating in sports copetition. Each school needs 22 sets each costing 150 Rs. Total= 2 schools X 22 sets X 150 Rs= 6600 Rs.

02 schools requested for basic laboratory material which would cost around 5000 Rs. Total = 2 schools X 5000 Rs.= 10,000 Rs.

AP Govt have a program to support 10th class passouts for 6 years of their education in IIIT. All expenses for non OC students is taken care by Govt. OC students need to pay the hostel fee which is taken care by the banks in the IIT campuses. Each student who get selected for IIIT will get a laptop, seperate room, free books, world-class training and placement. The selection criteria for this is purely on toppers in 10th class in each caste. ( 1girl and boy from OC, BC, SC/ST). Total of 6 students from each mandal. I am not sure what kind of help we can extend to this program.

    Thanks
