Case for Supporting two Engineering Students at Sri Kavitha Engineering College, Karepalli, Khammam Dist, Andhra Pradesh.(2007-2008) Spandana Supports : November 17, 2007 Spandana got two requests from the deserved candidates for their higher education. Spandana foundation decided to support these two engineering students who are in their second year of Electrical & Electronics Engineering at Sri Kavitha Engineering College, Karepalli, Khammam Dist. Andhra Pradesh, India. The details of each students and their credentials have been mentioned here. Spandana strongly feels these two students deserve help and continuous support for the next three years until they finish their Engineering.
Nagaseshu is from Anantanagar Village in Nelakondapalli Mandal of Khammam Dist. He is the son of a poor daily labor (coolie). They are very poor and doesn?t have enough funds to support the education of their son.
He got a good rank in EAMCET, but not good enough to get a seat in Govt. Engineering College. Telugu Daily ?Eenadu? had published an article about him an year ago and after seeing his situation, Sri Kavitha Engineering college has provided a free seat for him in Electrical and Electronics Engineering branch. However his engineering college has promised only a free education but not other expenses like Hostel fees, travel expenses like bus pass etc., Spandana Foundation also contacted him during that time to know his situation and we had helped him a sum of Indian Rs. 20,000/- as his expenses towards hostel, books, buspass etc., He had faced some health problems during his first year of engineering and had an operation for Appendicities. He got a very good percentage of 71% in his first year. His achievements in first year are really good considering his medium of instruction has changed from Telugu to English, he had health problems and an uncertainty about funds for future years. Nagaseshu is looking for help to support his Hostel and Travel expenses. Here are the details of the expenses he is expecting.
He is already due to pay his hostel fee and paid his first month hostel fee with the financial assistance of one of his lecturers. He hasn?t purchased any books for his second year and right now he is in a very confused state of mind as his future as an Engineer is very uncertain.
Like Nagaseshu, Chandrasekhar Rao also comes from a poor background. He is the only son of Mr. G. Sudhakar Rao, a poor farmer with an annual income of Rs. 20,000. He has a sister who is studying her Bachelors in Computer Science. Chandrasekhar has achieved an excellent 86% in his tenth standard, 95.8% in his Intermediate and a rank of 4778 in EAMCET. He got an even better 86.7% in his first year of engineering and stood second in the college.
Based on his performance in the engineering entrance exam, he got seat in better colleges than Kavitha engineering college, but he preferred to join Kavitha engineering college as the college exists in his village and he don?t had enough money to bear expenses for Hostel and other expenses had he joined in Hyderabad. Mr.Chandrasekhar has paid his first year?s fee with the help of some donations from local charities and also by selling some the assets his parents had accumulated over the years. He didn?t have enough money to pay for his second year fee and with referral from Nagaseshu, he has sent an application to Spandana for help along with several certificates which reflect his merit. Though Chandrasekhar?s case was not as bad as Nagaseshu, he is still poor considering the fact that his father?s annual income is less than the cost of one year of his studies. He is asking a help for his College Tuition fee for the remaining three years which is Rs. 26,000 per annum. Based on his performance and his financial status, Sri Kavitha Engineering college has given a discount of Rs. 6000 and he needs to pay Rs. 20,000 as tuition fee.
These two candidates can be reached at the following numbers:
We spoke with both the candidates and also spoke with the administrative officer Mr. Bhadrayya of Sri Kavitha Engineering College. In the case of these two students, they really deserve help for the remaining of their education as they do not have enough funds to support and they are highly meritorious. We strongly feel that helping these two candidates will not go as a waste. Spandana Foundation has always helped poor students who deserved help. However Spandana foundation too has very limited resources as the donations we receive are from very few and we already ran out of funds as we had spent huge amounts for Prathibha, Vidyalaya and Aashraya projects. We are requesting funds to help these two candidates. Your help of even a small amount will make a big difference in their lives. We are requesting funds to help these two candidates.
